Orion Beer is a large brewer from Okinawa. The company was founded after World War II, at a time when Okinawa was occupied by the United States.
Orion Beer was a quick success. It had an American style. This meant more malt and a hoppier character than other mainstream Japanese lagers.
Today, Orion Beer is a productive brewery making a popular international-style lager. Orion’s production is much smaller than Asahi, Kirin, Sapporo, and Suntory. But it’s still one of Japan’s Big Five.
