Yamazaki Mizunara 2017 Edition 18 Year Single Malt

The Yamazaki 18 Year Mizunara is one of the hottest whiskies on the planet. Suntory has long been the champion of the rare and expensive mizunara Japanese white oak. It’s creates some of the signature flavors in the Yamazaki and Hibiki whiskies. Classic markers include sandalwood, kyara (perfume like agarwood), coconut, and honey.

This 18 year aged single malt contains some mizunara cask-aged whiskies of over 50 years in age! It’s bottled at 48% abv.

Yamazaki 18 Mizunara prices on the retail market start around $3500 US. Menu pricing at your local izakaya or Japanese bar may be a more palatable option for most. Bargain hunters may be able to find it for around $150 for a 1.5 oz. pour. Covid-19 has also put a crunch on a lot of restaurants, so discounted pricing on top-shell whisky is a thing to watch out for and take advantage of. It helps keep the business open as well.
