Yamazaki 18 Year Single Malt is easily one of the world’s most sought-after whiskies. It’s the fruity, smooth cousin of Suntory’s more herbal Hakushu. Yamazaki 18 features a sweet-ish profile with notes of vanilla, sandalwood, honeysuckle, Sherry, caramel, raisin, and apricot.
Sherry-seasoned casks are the dominant wood of choice to hold Yamazaki 18. This imparts a range of darker, golden to reddish hues– plus the influence of the relatively new oak. Mizunara and American oak fill in to add elegance and complexity.
