Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2016 WEB

The 2016 Edition of the Yamazaki Sherry Cask is almost impossible to find. The 2013 Sherry Cask won Jim Murray’s “Whisky Bible” World Whisky of the Year award. Demand for this more recent release of course was and is extremely high. Prices in 2020 start around $4K. A $200 menu price at your local high-end Japanese restaurant would be a steal.

The Sherry Cask Yamazaki whiskies are blended for the connoisseur. Yamazaki’s master blender, Shinji Fukuyo, states: “it is created for a lover of complex, refined, and subtle tastes”.

The 2016 is non-age statement single malt whisky. It’s bottled at a beefy 48% abv. It uses the same base whiskies as the 2013 Edition, but with an additional two years of age in cask. Some of the whiskies in the blend are more than 25 years in age.
