What is Your Favorite Sake?

Before I was a blogger, I sold sake to dozens of people daily. It was mostly a process of asking questions to pinpoint a flavor profile that each customer would enjoy.

Some customers had a brand they really liked. Most customers had a general idea of their preferences. And a few had no idea what they liked but wanted to change that fact.

This post is all about sharing your favorite sake flavor profiles and brands. I will regularly update it with the latest poll results, and this information will be included on the Best Sake Brands page. Your input will be used to guide future content, as well.

So please comment below with your favorite brand/s, sake flavor profiles, or grades.

There are no wrong answers and all experience levels are welcome here. I’d love to hear what you think!

Matsu no Tsukasa Junmai Ginjo – one of my favorite sake

I’ll kick things off.

I’m a junky for savory, earthy, and acidic sake. The funkier the better. This means I’m generally drinking junmai and honjozo-grade sake. I especially like when they are kimoto or yamahai, which tend to be old-school and sour.

I don’t have a favorite sake. But a few brands I look out for include Kenbishi, Shichihonyari, Matsu no Tsukasa, Akishika, Takacho bodaimoto, and Fukuju.
